13 renowned clubs across the country including the dhaka club pictured here allow playing dice, card, and housie of chance for money. the supreme court today stayed a high court division order that directed the government to stop gambling including dice, card, and housie in exchange for money at 13 renowned clubs across the country including the dhaka club for eight weeks. the court also directed the hcd to hear and dispose of the rule issued questioning the legality of gambling at the club within the said time. chief justice surendra kumar sinha led four-member bench of the appellate division passed the order following a leave to appeal petition filed by dhaka club authorities challenging the hc order. earlier, on december 8, a four-member bench of the appellate division of sc, also headed by the chief justice surendra kumar sinha, upheld the hc order that directed the government to stop gambling. on december 4 following a writ petition, the hcd asked the government to stop gambling at the 13 clubs. the 12 other clubs are gulshan club, uttara club, dhanmondi club, officers' club dhaka, banani club, cadet college club dhaka, ladies' club dhaka, chittagong club, narayanganj club, sylhet club, chittagong seniors' club, and khulna club.
